My graphic design work and other creative endeavors
Less we forget I am still an Accountant, graduation right around the corner, so here are the outcomes of the usual job description of designing a flyer for the accounting firm visiting our humble little chapter
I’ve recently grown quite fond of this font “BigNoodleTitling” ,great tall sans serif font, just fits whenever I need it too.
A powerpoint version had to be given also, I like that one better.
It’s been quite a while since I updated the blog, It’s been a very eventful second part of the year. We’ll get to to events when the time comes however right now lets look at some designs.
This came to me a bit abruptly but in light of recent events I’ve decided to design without inhibitions from now on and to take a more daring approach to presentation, both as an exercise in boldness and to sharpen my instincts a little more than usually. The result.
Immediately I went for a landscape design knowing it would less preferred next to a portrait design, not to be an outlaw or anything but simply because it felt right at the moment. I was lucky to fin these excellent pictures of Artsi Ifrach a Moroccan/Israeli designer’s latest collection (more here), they fit the mood perfectly.
After my artistic excursion I came back to my senses and did a portrait layout that I knew the client had in mind, and sent them both.
So If you follow the blog you know I designed some flyers for the fashion show at my school and the after party. Well the guy who commissioned the work contacted me recently for some more work, here it is.
If you are into sneakers than this just might be the post for you, KicksFlyFree is a site by a friend of mines design to cater to the ever exclusive market of Sneakerheads. It’s quite simple buy a tee, enter to win some sneaks, nice right? especially considering who’s designing the tees, I’ll give you a minute.
I was commissioned for one logo and one tee, and I learned something about myself during this job. My creative process has been honed in designing t-shirts so even when I’m designing logos I still behave as if I’m designing a t-shirt. So this logo was actually the last thing I designed, the following shirt was first.
The tank was a personal choice and I’m amazed on how well it turned out, not to mention how well it matched the denim lebrons.
The ringer tee was another experiment, I always try a couple different options, at least 2.
And after realizing the tanks were a hard find I went ahead and produced an extra option
I believe you can still buy these tees at KicksFlyFree as for winning the Denim Lebrons, you may have missed your opportunity. Still a nice tee though,

As some of you may know I’m currently attending VCU and being African and a designer it’s only natural that I would take part in their fashion show. However them knowing that I have a degree in graphic design has made for a very prolific relationship, so to speak.
Here I give you the poster for the 2013 Fashion show from Asu at VCU, I did not have my brand AFR Lives featured and now I realize that maybe I should’ve, however it was an excellent show nonetheless and I really liked this final draft of the poster.
Sometimes you get those jobs, usually last minute, quick turnaround and almost nothing to go off of. And sometimes those end up being some of your best work. SAEOPP, got one day needed the next, so I went to work and this is what came out. Client liked it a lot apparently , me too.
Some of yall may know that I started my own brand AFRlives, and I’m glad to say that its been seeing a steady growth rate so far. However this endeavor has unleashed a brand new outlet for my creativity, Marketing. I took some classes at school, nothing serious, but enough to give me a solid understanding. So with the help of a couple cool friends I used the nice scenery at my school and made this.
All that was missin was a nice camera and a good photographer. All things that can be remedied given time. The next step will be doing a full spread and who knows maybe even a short film lookbook.

So I was told about this event at my school the day right before and I decided the time was right to get those business cards printed. For a single day turn around and for just having something ready to show, kinkos didn’t do too bad.

So as some of may know the African Student Union Fashion show is on the horizon at my school, and one of the folks in charge is of course none other than yours truly. So I was contacted by a gentleman that had a vested interest. Turns out he’s throwing the after party and requested my services, and this was the outcome.
It became apparent that I tend to design these flyers as if they were magazine covers, you can definitely tell when I just stick to the plain design minus all the textures and etc…

So those who actually follow/read my blog know that I’m part of the ASU Fashion show at my school VCU, and so I had to design these flyers to recruit designers that might want to participate.
The pic is from a lovely site I just found, vlisco, turns out it’s one of the major producer of African print, or “pagne” back where I’m from and every year they go all out for their new line of prints and go as far as to design high fashion looks with them and launch a campaign, brilliant.
